About National Electric Power Regulatory Authority NEPRA:
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority NEPRA is an independent body that regulates the electricity supply in Pakistan. It was established in 1997 by the Parliament of Pakistan through the Regulation of Generation, Transmission and Distribution of Electric Power Act. NEPRA has the following main responsibilities:
NEPRA consists of a chairman appointed by the Federal Government and four members from each of the four provinces of Pakistan. There is also a vice-chairman who rotates among the members every year. NEPRA reports to the Prime Minister of Pakistan through the Cabinet Division.
